A former coaching inn, The Arundell sits at the gateway between Devon and Cornwall and with its position on the side of the old A30 it has for hundreds of years been a haven for weary travelers, providing delicious food and a comfortable bed. However, the village of Lifton is is also surrounded by some of England’s best wild and unspoilt fishing and since 1932, it has enjoyed the reputation of being one of the UK’s top sporting hotels; often referred to as the home of West Country Fly Fishing.
The hotel has 20 miles of rivers for fishing for wild fish with the fly and arranges both driven and rough shooting, and moorland stalking. Our beautiful countryside and nearby Dartmoor are ideal for rambling or cycling.
The hotel is also renowned for excellent food. We are a Masterchef destination with a focus on ingredient provenance. We are also a member of the Great Inns of Britain and our accommodation is comfortable, simple with a hint of luxury.Learn More

The Arundell can offer more than 20 private beats providing each fisherman with almost a mile of fishing for themselves for the day. The Arundell continues to be a favourite destination for shooting parties. For both game shooting and stalking our approach is that the camaraderie, hospitality and cuisine are as important an element to your day as the sport itself.
All our shooting is either arranged by the hotel or is in collaboration with well-established local shoots. These hand selected estates all share our philosophy, and focus on safety, quality and presenting sporting birds to the guns.Learn More
